At Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic, we provide quality veterinary services for Cats and Dogs – offering routine wellness & preventative care, along with multiple surgical & dental procedures. Our dedicated team is here to ensure our patients’ health and happiness every step of the way.

We are a locally owned Veterinary Clinic, we pride ourselves on fostering a caring, trustworthy, and fear-free environment for both our clients and their pets. Our services include:

Wellness Exams & Preventative care: Ensuring our patients are happy and healthy and owners are well informed/educated on their pets’ wellbeing.

Surgical services: Expert care for a wide range of procedures, from spays and neuters, dental cleanings and treatments, to more advanced surgeries.

Allergy, Illness, and Disease Care: X-ray, Ultrasound, Hematological and Cytological diagnostic tools are used to aid in therapeutic treatment decisions.

Emergency Care: Compassionate care in case of unexpected illness or injury.

End of Life Care: Thoughtful euthanasia and aftercare.

Basic Skills & Qualifications: Vet Assistant

Strong work ethic / Team-oriented work environment.

Empathy and Compassion / Positive attitude / Patience: demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with co-workers, clients, and patients.

Client communication and education towards their pet’s care.

Ability to document patient information accurately in medical records.

Willingness to learn / grow.

Ability to communicate with team members / listen, receive and follow directions.

Ability to communicate with owners during intake exam questions and discuss financial boundaries and various care options.

Basic animal handling / restraint – able to work on the floor with patients – We practice low stress handling for our patients, handling all animals safely for yourself, the patient, and your team members.

Obtain blood and stool samples, IV catheter placement, prepare prescriptions, monitoring vitals, assist with surgical procedures (operating equipment, running in-house lab work, x-rays, monitors, etc.), and patient care (feedings, walking, bathing). Assist in euthanasia procedures.

Advanced Tech Skills: Dental Cleanings, Intubation, Anesthesia induction, bandaging, wound care, and aseptic surgical assistance.

Follow proper safety protocols.

Adaptable to calm or fast paced work environment.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic.

Basic computer skills - we use Avimark Veterinary Software, a mobile app for client appointments and rewards, an online pharmacy, and Facebook page messaging. We also regularly utilize adobe pdf, Microsoft word and excel.

What makes us different?

Current Open Hours:

Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

In summer we normally extend to 5pm until Labor Day

Closed Major Holidays (Christmas Eve and Christmas, Thanksgiving minimum)

All Vets and Support Staff have a say in any scheduling changes (Do we want to be open Memorial Day? Should be have an occasional Saturday?, Should we take a full week off for Christmas?)

Current owner has been with the practice for 11 years and owned the practice for 7 years. Many employees have been with the company 7-10 years.

Being locally owned means our profits don't leave to support stockholders or an HR manager in another state. If the clinic does well every employee is rewarded directly.

We also routinely rescue, foster, and re-home cats and kittens throughout the year. Typically we manage 25-50 felines per year through our office.

Full Time Licensed Vet Techs would also receive assistance with licensing fees, CE fees, and liability insurance.

Discounts for personal pets & discounted pet food programs.

Bonuses are distributed to team members after monthly or quarterly goals are achieved.

Occasional group outings are offered (never mandatory) like Kayaking trips or Painting nights (with our without a twist). Annual Christmas bonuses and gingerbread decorating party.

Available after 60-90 days employment: Dental, vision and Health insurance with HSA
