Responsibilities include contact with physician offices and the public through the scheduling of appointments and entry of data into the computer.
Answers the telephone within three rings using appropriate etiquette. Frequently checks voice mail and returns all calls by the end of day. Promptly delivers messages and routes calls as necessary.
Schedules pretesting lab work appointments for surgical and endoscopy patients within departmental guidelines. Coordinates with other team members and other departments to complete patients pretesting visit in a timely manner.
Communicates accurate information concerning a patient, physician, or associate in a timely manner recognizing the importance of information received and prioritizes communication.
Obtains the appropriate physician orders, charge by exception forms, and patient labels from the computer along with the correct packet of documentation forms to assemble the patient chart from the procedure booking sheet.
Manages faxed physician orders from offices either filing in the correct order or placing with the patient chart.
Assembles patient charts at least two weeks in advance for surgical patients and at least one week in advance for endoscopy patients.
Inventories and maintains office supplies, forms, and equipment to ensure availability for the department being mindful of cost and waste.
Make patient forms packets and label patient charts as needed.
Other duties as assigned by management.
QualificationsRequired Education:
High School diploma
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
One year experience in a physician office or hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced medical certification course, ie. medical assistant, medical office assistant
