Apply today for our RN Day Surgery PT opportunity.Job Summary and QualificationsDay Surgery NurseThe Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Registered Nurse plans individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.When acting in charge nurse role, registered nurses are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a therapeutic environment. Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity and the skill of the staff. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff or patient issues.What you will do in this role:Exhibits competency with skin prep of the surgical patient.Demonstrates ability to start and maintain IV, initiate and monitor intravenous infusions of medications and/or blood products.Recognize and demonstrate treatment for IV complications.Ability to collect specimens according to hospital policy following physician orders.Competently performs EKGs.Properly administers medication in accordance with physician order and hospital policy. What qualifications you will need:Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of NursingLicensure/Certification: Current TN RN or Compact State License in state of residence; American HeartAssociation BLS (within 90 days of hire); ACLS and PALS (within 6 months of hire) required.Experience: One-year med/surg experience required; one-year ambulatory experience preferredParkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times.
