Description We are seeking a Patient Access Specialist to join our healthcare team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role is pivotal in providing a seamless patient experience within our healthcare system. You will be working in a private office setting and communicating with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff primarily via phone and email. This position offers a contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Facilitate the registration process for patients by collecting demographic and insurance information accurately and entering it into the electronic health records (EHR) system. Coordinate patient appointments, procedures, and tests based on established protocols to ensure optimal utilization of resources and minimal waiting times. Verify patients' insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits to facilitate accurate billing and reimbursement processes. Provide exceptional customer service to patients by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring a positive experience throughout their interaction with the healthcare system. Collaborate with medical staff, nurses, and physicians to coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring smooth transitions of care. Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, including HIPAA guidelines, to safeguard patient confidentiality and privacy. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, registrations, and scheduling activities, ensuring compliance with documentation standards. Work closely with other members of the centralized patient access team, including schedulers, billing specialists, and administrative staff, to optimize workflow efficiency and achieve departmental goals. Participate in training sessions, quality improvement initiatives, and process optimization efforts to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of patient access services. Requirements Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the healthcare, hospitals, or social assistance industry Proficiency in using Epic Software for various tasks Excellent customer service skills, with experience in answering inbound calls Ability to schedule appointments effectively and efficiently Knowledge of Enterprise Messaging and its application in a healthcare setting Demonstrated problem resolution skills, with a focus on providing patient-centered solutions Experience in medical insurance verification, with an understanding of different insurance policies and plans.
