The technologist follows the standards established by the radiologist and such state, local, and federal standards which may apply. Serves the following age – specific patient populations: pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

Uses two patient identifiers

Compares doctor’s order to requisition for accuracy

Assesses patient for possible artifacts and takes appropriate action to prevent interference with image

Calculates, prepares, and administers proper patient dose and correct radiopharmaceutical according to dept. standard.

Properly disposes of radioactive waste, contaminated lines, and spent radiopharmaceuticals

Routinely demonstrates the ability to prioritize workload.

Coordinates multiple exams into the proper sequence to ensure no conflicts of exams.

Assesses the doctor’s order and the patient’s diagnosis to determine optimal images.

Assesses patient’s condition, comfort, and safety during procedures.

Observes and reports to physician any change in patient’s condition during the procedure.

Communicates accurate patient information in a timely manner to peers, physicians, and other departments.

Uses all diagnostic, computer, and communication equipment within safe limits.

Other duties as assigned by management.
