Hours may vary due to work assignments or projects.Work Location: 9328 Birchwood Pike Harrison, TN. 37341FLSA Status:This is aNon-Exemptposition.Department: CWS LandfillCLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:Incumbents in this classification are responsible for monitoring, operating, maintaining and repairing various sanitation and landfill equipment, including blower enclosed glass flares, methane gas systems, compressed air systems, and wheel wash systems. Typical duties include repairing and maintaining equipment and maintaining logs and other equipment records. Work is performed under limited supervision.SERIES LEVEL:This is a stand-alone position.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.)Monitors, operates, maintains and repairs various sanitation and landfill equipment, including blower, enclosed glass flares, leachate pump stations, stand-by generators, methane gas systems, compressed air systems, and wheel wash systems.Collects stormwater and leachate samples and delivers to appropriate locations for analysis.Prepares and maintains a variety of reports, forms, records and/or other related documents, ensuring compliance with applicable State, County, and Local regulations.Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the landfill facility operates efficiently and safely.Maintain and operate pump stations, wheel wash systems, enclosed gas flare systems, and other landfill equipment.Conduct routine environmental sampling and testing to assess the landfill's impact on air, water, and soil quality.Responsible for monthly well readings and gas port readings to monitor gas migration.Generate reports to comply with air pollution and state regulations.Bush hog around wells to maintain access.Pull and clean pumps in wells to keep them in compliance with regulatory requirements.Raise wells where waste is placed to maintain proper functionality.Maintain accurate records and documentation related to landfill operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.Calibrate various meters before use to ensure accurate readings.Troubleshoot and replace sensors for optimal performance of equipment and systems.Repair various electrical equipment including starters, soft starts, and electric motors.Repair air-driven pumps, vacuum pumps, airlines, leachate lines, gas lines, and other related equipment.Perform industrial electrical tasks, including high-voltage systems, in adherence to safety standards and regulations.Uses, carries and answers their cell phone for business purposes as determined by the assigned job duties and the department head.Must meet regular attendance requirements.Must be able to maintain good interpersonal relationships with staff, co-workers, managers and citizens.Must accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.Performs other duties as assigned.This position is deemed essential during inclement weather situations, and must report to or remain at work, even when administrative closings are announced, as determined by the Department Head.DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES(if any):MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or GED and one (1) year of related landfill equipment operation and maintenance experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; or any combination of equivalent experience and education.LICENSING AND CERTIFICAT ONS:Valid Tennessee Driver's LicenseKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Knowledge of environmental regulations and practices related to landfill operations. Proficiency in pipefitting, mechanical, industrial electrical, and analog control systems. Experience with troubleshooting and repairing PLC controllers. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions independently. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions. Ability to work independently as a standalone employee, managing tasks and responsibilities.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Medium Work: Exerting up-to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
