JOB SUMMARY

The Graphic Designer supports and assists in leading creative design projects through the entire creative lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will be creative, highly organized and have a knack for generating ideas to effectively communicate POET’s key messages. A candidate for this position must be able to work in a varied, fast-paced environment. The Graphic Designer reports to the Creative Director.

The Graphic Designer is a valued member of the Communications Team at POET. Each member of the Communications Team plays a key role in how team members, investors and external stakeholders, policy leaders and the general public perceive POET.

DURING A TYPICAL DAY

Develop print collateral, literature, banner ads, and graphics for posters, banners, tradeshows, mailers, brochures, print and digital campaigns, PowerPoints and websites.

Day-to-Day work includes: research and concepting, designing, facilitating the approval process and team collaboration.

Maintain brand guidelines and apply to all work conducted.

Actively participate in creative brainstorming sessions, asking questions and driving to clarify information needed to complete projects.

Work independently but also collaborate and take direction from creative and marketing team members and business stakeholders.

Manage own time and workload and be able to foresee and communicate road blocks proactively. Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously is essential.

Ability to act in support role of another designer.

Conduct research for creation of mood/concept boards and to build on existing libraries.

Present ideas and concepts in person or via video meeting.

Occasional photography and maintaining digital assets, including photo libraries.

Maintain a team environment with other departments.

Champion POET in the community.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

A Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Digital Media or a related field.

1-5 years of related experience in a freelance, in-house, or agency capacity.

Demonstrated ability to create compelling and technically strong design work.

Online portfolio required.

Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently.

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis in Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop. (required)

Resourcefulness in solving problems.

Organized, detail oriented and enjoys working collaboratively.
