Job Summary

Care for critically and chronically ill patients and create a supportive environment.

Educate patients about treatment options, procedures and particularities of the disease and keep up to date with new treatment methods.

Assess patient’s physical and emotional conditions, medical history, health habits and practices and document in patient’s medical record.

Triage patient problems and assist in the evaluation of symptoms and initiation of interventions as ordered by the physician or nurse practitioner.

Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications as ordered using the correct medication, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.

Proficient in technical skills as follows but not limited to: venipuncture, IV starts, access and maintenance of implanted ports, Hickman catheters, intraperitoneal ports and PICC lines. Able to assist physician or nurse practitioner with intrathecal chemotherapy administration and lumbar punctures.

Education and/or Experience

Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

A minimum of one year of oncology nursing experience is desirable, but not required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Current license from the State of South Dakota Board of Nursing.

CPR certification required.

OCN and ACLS certifications preferred.

Varied Shifts; PRN

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$26.25 - $39.25 per hour
