Here, you can see where Daktronics products are being used in your town or which iconic venues house Daktronics’ visual displays. What is the purpose of the Daktronics Reliability Laboratory? Daktronics display systems are known for their world-class quality and reliability. This lab is where this foundation begins. Daktronics systems are put through extensive weathering and temperature testing to accelerate the aging of the products and determine the product lifetime, as well as probable causes of failure, enabling our engineers to design more robust platforms. In addition, the visual display characteristics are measured in depth to ensure our products provide the high-quality visual experience Daktronics is known for.

Lab Services isDaktronics’ Corporate test labthat provides test equipment and knowledge for gathering data on new product designs, current production parts & field reliability. The corporate lab serves Daktronics’ worldwide manufacturing facilities.

The team’smissionis to deliver industry leading product information and analysis. This is done by skilled application of quality and reliability techniques which helps employees and customers make informed decisions, enabling Daktronics to provide world leading value.

In the lab, team members get the opportunity to learn, operate and troubleshoot ourcutting-edge new product prototypesas well as benchmark other products and components in our industry.

What will work look like for me?

The technician will set up and test the latest products and technology Daktronics has to offer and use a wide variety of analytical equipment.

Perform a wide variety of testing with an emphasis on employee flexibility to learn multiple types of instruments and prototype products.

Some of the common tools and competencies utilized may be:

Electrical – Setup and operation of Daktronics modules, power supplies, controllers, and measurement of their electrical characteristics via multimeters, oscilloscopes, or other advanced equipment as needed.

Environmental Testing - Temperature-humidity testing chambers, UV Weathering chambers, water spray testers.

Dimensional Measurement – Measure components using various instruments such as height gages, calipers, advanced optical microscopes, coordinate measurement machines, and many others.

Mechanical Testing - dimensional, torque, tensile testing, compression, adhesion, fatigue, etc.

Support Daktronics engineering teams in both product and process design by becoming an expert regarding the above pieces of equipment and their usage. Take input from test engineers to determine test protocol and then communicate the results with those engineers and the necessary stakeholders. Good technical writing skills are necessary. Documentation of test setup, procedures, and results using Microsoft PowerPoint or Excel is a primary function.

Continuous improvement is a goal of the lab, so providing feedback and making improvements to your work environment using your experiences will be a valued contribution.

Participate in planning activities including PI (Program Increment) Planning, Tier meetings, and manage your Kanban board (Trello).

Qualifications

Associates degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Materials Science, or relevant field.

Previous electronics manufacturing, electronics repair, or measurements experience is desirable.

Excellent organizational skills with an eye for detail.

Experience with MS office tools (Outlook/Excel/Word/PowerPoint) a plus.

Fluent in English, written and verbal.

Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team.

Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand tools and power tools for maintenance of laboratory apparatus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work around odors, including solder, paint, solvent, chemical/cleaning, or general manufacturing odors.

Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 35 lbs. In some areas, the ability to occasionally to frequently lift and carry up to 45 lbs.

Must have steady hand-eye coordination in order to run tests.
