This position has a direct impact on the success of the departmental mission of supporting all metering equipment. This employee provides an invaluable service through the execution of various meter maintenance and testing programs, ensuring compliance with PSC rules and regulations. The employee will be responsible for operating meter test console to test accuracy of watthour meters. Testing includes verification of proper calibration, verification of proper configuration, and verification of meter communications. All meter categories are represented including single phase, polyphase, and AMI. This position will primarily be assigned to work in a lab environment but could be required to provide assistance to field meter shop as necessary.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceMinimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):

0-2 years of experience with a High School diploma or GED

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to lift 70 pounds

Ability to assist in training other groups involved in metering activities

Proficiency in the use of a personal computer (PC)

Manual dexterity to operate hand-held equipment

Knowledge & ability to perform trigonometric computations

Strong math skills and a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude

Operate console to test accuracy of watthour meters for new shipment acceptance

Process and test meters for refurbishment

Process meter retirement tasks

Operate console to test accuracy of instrument transformers

Test accuracy of watthour meters for random sampling process, test accuracy of watthour meters for high bill complaints, test accuracy of watthour meters for refurbishment and test instrument transformers

Program electronic meters using various software applications

Update meter data

Troubleshoot meter equipment failures (e.g. communications and metrology)

Navigate CIS/meter inventory to assist in problem solving

Order operating materials and equipment from company storeroom

Assist in training other groups involved in metering activities

Operate a Forklift

Other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field is preferred but not required

Electrical and/or Mechanical work experience is preferred but not required
