As a Senior Patient Access Specialist, additional duties can include training, scheduling, and other leadership responsibilities. This role is responsible for performing these functions while meeting the mission and goals of RSFH and all regulatory compliance requirements. The Senior Patient Access Specialist will work within the policies and processes as that are being performed across the entire organization.Minimum Qualifications :Education: High School diploma or equivalent.Experience: At least 3 years of work experience in a patient financial healthcare setting, along with in depth knowledge of health insurance plans and an understanding of HIPPA regulations requiredLicensure/Certification: N/APrimary Source Verification (if applicable): N/AKnowledge/Skills: Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials. Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification. Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT or procedure codes.Other: Data entry, banking, cash handling, and/or service industry experience helpful.Contacts : Telephone and/or face-to-face interaction with clinicians, patients, ancillary support staff, family members, physician practices, and insurance companies.Work Demands/Environment :Work may require sitting for long periods of time, stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally, lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds may be expected. Requires manual dexterity enough to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful. Requires travel to offsite location including but not limited RSFH hospital facilities and Roper Saint Francis Healthcare diagnostic centers. Mileage is reimbursed at a set rate determined by Roper Saint Francis Healthcare.
