Description We are seeking a Grant Accountant to join our team in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity within the government industry. As a Grant Accountant, you will be responsible for grant management, coordinating FEMA reporting, recording journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and assisting with audits.Responsibilities: Research and identify potential sources of local, state, federal and/or private foundation grants Write and complete grant applications in collaboration with relevant departments Prepare and review grant packages, providing feedback to enhance submission quality Record grant activity in the general ledger and ensure compliance by reporting grant information and activities as required by the funding agency Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports Submit requests for reimbursements from other agencies and track equipment related to grant programs Coordinate FEMA reporting activities with departments and function as the finance representative for grant and FEMA administration Prepare the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) report and assist with reading committee and council minutes for activity that may need to be recorded or reported Maintain grant, FEMA, and other financial records Record receipts, disbursements, and journal entries and prepare invoices and monitor accounts receivable Stay up to date with changes in governmental accounting and reporting requirements Assist with grant monitoring activities, annual audit, and other internal and external audits Requirements Proficiency in Grant Accounting is essential Familiarity with Federal Grant procedures and regulations Proven experience in Grant Management, particularly Government Grants Strong skills in Grant Writing and Fund Accounting Knowledge of Fund Accounting, particularly in the non-profit sector Ability to handle Accounting Entries and perform Accounting Functions efficiently Proficiency in making Journal Entries Experience with Ledger Account Reconciliation Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Knowledge of accounting software and databases Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is a plus.
