This role is fully competent in all conventional aspects of the subject matter. This role is for the second or top-level position in the engineer series providing engineering support in a designated company area, or specific engineering discipline. Performs and/or reviews engineering calculations, analysis, research and design. Provides cost analysis as needed and develops recommendation based on calculations (e.g. cost for equipment upgrade) for management review. With little direction of supervisor or work leader, exercises independence in evaluating, selecting and applying standard or well-defined engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments. Prioritizes and makes moderately complex adaptations and modifications to work assignments as needed.Effectively utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments; Identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value-added activities. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.Able to handle the most complex work and all aspects of the job using wide knowledge of the field and mastery (advanced knowledge, skill and/or abilities that provides subject matter authority and superior command in a particular job) of the subject matter. May provide input in setting objectives and policy, identifying critical issues and introducing new concepts. Makes decisions independently. Provides assistance, advice, and solutions to peers, customers, and co-workers. Identifies and implements better work alternatives and business processes.Other details include:

Interface closely with the project development team

Support business development and operations by preparing design calculations and concept drawings (or having them prepared by an outside consulting firm)

Travel to project sites and present site evaluation/assessment reports

Participate in project meetings and conference calls

Ensure final documentation is accurate and complete for all project work

Demonstrate creative skills to solve complex site arrangement problems

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceEngineer II: BS Degree in ABET accredited Electrical Engineering discipline or similar, plus 3 or more years of engineering experience.Engineering Technical Specialist II: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering plus 3 or more years of engineering experience OR if Associate's Degree plus 5 or more years engineering experience OR High School Diploma plus at least seven years of related engineering experience.Engineer II/Engineering Technical Specialist II:

Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals.

Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position.

Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives.

Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs

Planning, organizational and project management skills.

Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills.

Effective decision-making skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).

Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.

Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.

Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

Education RequirementsEngineer II: Bachelor's Degree in ABET accredited Electrical Engineering discipline.Engineering Technical Specialist II: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
