Job Details Division: [[divisionobj]] Location: [[filter4]] , [[filter3]] , [[filter2]] Other Available Locations: [[mfield1]] Basic Job Functions:The role of the Product Development Metallurgist includes but is not limited to the following:
Leading research and development initiatives of new or existing steel grades including hot rolled, cold rolled, galvanized/galvannealed, and other coated products.
Coordinating and conducting trials/interfacing with operations, technical, and commercial teams.
Directing and coordinating all testing initiatives, both internally and with 3rd party laboratories and/or universities.
Coordinating and preparing all qualification packages for OEMs
Leading qualification efforts of new and existing products with automotive OEMs and other tier 1 suppliers.
Collaborating/communicating development activities across all Nucor divisions and Detroit Automotive.

Minimum Qualifications:
BS degree in Metallurgy, Material Science Engineering, or related similar technical field.
Strong understanding of physical metallurgy, metallography, steel making, and the production of plain carbon steel sheet.
3 years of related engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S./Ph.D. in Metallurgy or Material Science.
Prior experience in steel making, refining, continuous casting, hot and cold rolling, and galvanizing.
Automotive steel related experience.
