Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. Effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will be essential for this role, and a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. Accountable for the timely completion of month-end, quarter-end and yearly close processes; analyze financial information to prepare financial summaries, and ensure accurate and efficient monthly, quarterly and year- end results.
Analyze financial information to recommend and develop efficient use of resources and procedures; provide strategic recommendations to the operations leadership.
Maintain the ownership of chart of accounts and ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.
Oversee Accounts Payable process; control vendor payments process, Account Receivable management, cash application with attention to aged invoices and monitor credit limits.
Review costs of manufacturing, overhead and G& A expense analysis, and provide recommendation for overhead absorption rates and cost management initiatives.
Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
Comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Assist and oversee all physical inventory counts and reconciliation.
Requirements
Foundational knowledge in cost accounting
Solid understanding of US GAAP
Sound written and verbal communication skills
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
Strong attention to detail
