Manage various size capital and repair projects from concept to implementation. Projects will primarily be at the Eastover Mill but occasionally may involve work at the Sylvamo Sheet Converting Plant located in Sumter, SC.

Utilize and manage regional engineering support resources as required to assist in scoping and estimating projects and to assist with detailed engineering design.

Manage contractor construction and installation of project assignments.

Utilize engineering skills and project management skills to successfully achieve project results. Organize project teams to include appropriate resources (i.e other engineering disciplines, operations and maintenance personnel, consultants, vendors, construction managers, etc.) and lead them to safe and successful project implementation. This role may also include managing and/or suppporting inspections and repairs for critical Mill assets.

Complete often non-routine assignments requiring scope development, original ideas, resource estimates, justifications, and planning through execution.

Be accountable for project results including safety, budget, schedule, reliability, metrics, and technical documentation of each project.

Follow Sylvamo’s CapitalProject Delivery Process to ensure selection of correct projects and to help maximize project effectiveness.

Collaborate with operations and maintenance departments on scope development and implementation.

Provide project status reporting to Project Team, Mill Management and other project stakeholders as appropriate.

Provide problem solving and support to mill operations and maintenance as needed on small projects and consultation requests.

Routinely build safety components into work plans and maintain a track record of safely executed assignments.

Serve on mill task force and ad-hoc teams to lead and contribute to mill and company initiatives.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degreein Mechanical Engineering.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Powerpoint

Good communication skills, both verbal and written to constructively interact with mill teams, project teams, and management.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience leading a team

Experience in Capital and/or Reliability Engineering methods and practices.

Minimum of 1 year engineering experience in the Pulp & Paper Industry

Experience in multiple process areas of a Pulp & Paper Mill

Proficiency with SAP
