We’re seeking a specialist engineer with deep expertise in simulating complex hydrodynamic systems, with a focus on transient flow behaviour in hydroelectric and pumped storage schemes. This role involves integrated modelling of fluid systems, rotating equipment, and electrical connections, using advanced simulation platforms such as SIMSEN to evaluate dynamic response across full operating envelopes.Key Responsibilities:Carry out detailed transient analyses of hydropower and pumped storage systemsDevelop and calibrate dynamic models incorporating penstocks, surge tanks, turbines, and generatorsSimulate water hammer, load rejection/load acceptance, and start-up/shutdown eventsAnalyse electromechanical interactions across the full systemPrepare technical documentation and support risk-based design decisionsCollaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate modelling into wider design strategy
