Job Summary:To disassemble complex instruments, supplies and equipment; sorts and
inspects for damage and reports needed repairs. Selects the mode of
decontamination best suited for items on hand. Assembles, prepares and
packages instrument trays, surgical instruments, needles, syringes and
special instruments. Determines the appropriate sterilization method
and applies corresponding chemical indicator.All team members are responsible for bringing life to our Purpose

through every action and every interaction at work. Responsibilities:Disassembles complex instruments and equipment. Removes soil, blood,
tissue fragments and body fluids by wiping, soaking, rinsing, scrubbing
and using ultrasonic or other mechanical methods, as applicable.Reassembles equipment and other complex medical devices that require
skill and careful positioning of parts to include vast surgical
instrument trays.Insures proper handling of all scopes and delicate micro and
cardiovascular surgical instruments.Operates sonic cleaners, instrument washers, Cidex machines and dryers.
Also operates steam sterilizers, gas sterilizers, aerators and heat seal
machines. Checks all autoclave recording devices to insure proper
operation.Conserves supplies and materials by careful handling and strict
adherence to specific quantities of supplies that are listed for each
tray assembled.Maintains production records to be used in accounts payable reports.
Records all manufactured goods.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferredExperience: One year experience working with surgical instruments and
equipment preferred.Number and Type of Employees Supervised: NoneLicensure, Registry or Certification Required: Certification in Sterile
Processing through IAHCSMM or CBSPD preferred. Team members are required
to obtain certification within ONE year of meeting the eligibility
requirements to sit for the certification exam. Eligibility is defined
by CBSPD as "completion of 12 months of full-time employment performing
SPD activities".Training: Minimum 1 year on-the-job training to include an understanding
of medical and surgical instrument supply and terminology; basic
principles of microbiology and aseptic technique.EEO/AA
