Description We are seeking a Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team in Columbia, Maryland. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. The HR Assistant will primarily be responsible for recruiting and credentialing for various roles within our team, with a focus on positions such as Social Workers and Addiction Counselors. The candidate must be comfortable with making a high volume of calls, be detail-oriented, and have a strong knowledge of MS Excel.Responsibilities: Conducting recruitment efforts for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, interns, and temporary employees Handling employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing Developing and maintaining affirmative action programs; maintaining other records, reports, and logs pertaining to applicant and employee statistics Conducting new employee orientations and personnel changes Assisting in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals Recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed Maintaining Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from the database Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations Assisting in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures Participating in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Requirements Possess a solid understanding of recruiting processes and strategies Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook Ability to compose professional correspondence and emails Demonstrated experience in handling confidential information with discretion Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proactive and able to work independently and as part of a team Knowledge of HR laws and regulations is a plus Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience in HR Previous experience in a Human Resources role is beneficial but not mandatory.
