Nuclear Plant Simulator Engineer/Analyst - Plant FarleySummary of Job Duties:Simulator Engineer/Analyst evaluates power plant simulator response compared to expected actual plant response, identifies needed changes to model coding and modifies code. This process involves collecting plant data from different sources, such as operator feedback, operator rounds, plant computer systems, design modification documentation, and vendor manuals. Must be able to conduct and document tests to ensure simulator performance adheres to industry standards and federal guidelines. Able to mandate and maintain compliance with ANSI/ANS-3.5 standards by performing Steady-State, Transient, Scenario-Based, and Post-Event Simulator Tests and generating test reports for those tests. Duties also involve hardware procurement, installation, and maintenance, as well as maintaining simulator support programs such as Instructor Station programs, Executives, Input/Output interface, Peripheral interface programs, external computing devices interface, and data collection. Provides testing support for modifications made to simulator.Future developmental assignments in operations, maintenance, training, or quality assurance often prepare engineers for supervisory and management positions.Education: BS in Engineering or a technical degree in a related field is required. An engineering degree from an ABET Accredited college or PE License is preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with simulation modeling and programming techniques using legacy programming languages (such as Java, FORTRAN, C, C) is required. Experience in roles that require print reading. Experience with the use of project management tools (such as Maximo) is preferred. PWR operating experience is preferred. Experience with Digital Control Systems (Ovation, GE equivalent) is preferred. A demonstrated aptitude for engineering problem solving is required. Experience remotely working with cross functional teams is required. Experience with an established modern programming language (Go, Rust, Python, JavaScript, C#) is desired. Understanding of network infrastructure fundamentals (switches, routers, DHCP servers, DNS servers) is desired. Experience with Git or SVN version control systems is desired. Prior exposure to a Unix-like Operating System (Linux, Darwin, BSD) is desired. Familiarity with VMWare Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors is desired. Ability to fill an Emergency Response Organization on-call position.Behavioral Attributes : Accepts ownership of assigned programs, projects, and tasks.
