We need YOU!The Clemson Polyurethane Systems House is a batch-managed production facility, with a broad product mix, that operates 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, with a utilities department that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.The BASF Performance Materials business responds quickly to customer needs, without cutting corners to sacrifice safety or quality. The business services a wide range of customers in many different markets from automotive, construction, refrigeration, appliances, etc. The efficient and reliable operations of the utility systems is critical to the production operations.The technicians within the Clemson Site must adapt to change safely, quickly, and efficiently while remaining in compliance of all applicable permits and regulations.The Utilities Technicians ensure safe operation of utilities department to support site operations and ultimately to meet our customers’ needs.You will work 15 out of 28 days in 12-hour rotating shifts.During your 12-hour rotating shift as a Utility Technician you will…
Collect and test water samples in Boiler Room, R-building, wastewater treatment plant, and Water Filtration plant. Add chemicals to boiler feed water, water filtration system, WWTP, Cooling tower water and chilled water as indicated by water samples.
Monitor and record data for the operation of the steam generating equipment, the compressed air systems, the refrigeration equipment systems, the water filtration plant, and the wastewater treatment plant. Daily and shift inspections required.
Collect samples and conduct inspections for site environmental compliance programs such as stormwater, RCRA, and SPCC as well as start, stop, and switch equipment as needed for production and maintenance. Lockout equipment for maintenance, as required.
Be an integral part of the site’s safety culture. This individual is responsible for certain areas of the plant from a safety and housekeeping perspective. Utility Technician III will also be required to master a certain number of standard operating procedures and participate in several safety programs.
Understand how to use personal protective equipment to perform all necessary job functions within the process. Individual must be able to understand hazard communication and DOT/OSHA requirements for chemical transportation, storage, and handling.
Clean equipment, clarifiers, and filters in all areas of Utilities. Good housekeeping practices are expected. Be forklift certified and must already have or be able to work towards a wastewater certification by the State of South Carolina.
If you
Have a High School Diploma (2 Year technical degree preferred).
Possess a driver license.
Can lift at least 50lbs.
Currently possess or are willing to obtain a Wastewater certification by the State of South Carolina (B license or higher preferred).
