Landscape Construction Procurement Specialist/Estimator

We are looking to add a landscape construction procurement specialist/estimator to our team here at Grandscapes. We are a full service landscape company located in Wakefield, Rhode Island. We have been servicing all of southern Rhode Island and Washington County for over 35 years.We offer excellent pay and benefits for our team and have multiple crew members who have been with us for over 15 years.

Job Overview:

The landscape construction procurement specialist is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing the materials and supplies needed for landscaping construction projects as well as estimating select landscape construction projects. This involves identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, maintaining inventories, and ensuring timely delivery of materials, including hardscape materials (manufactured and natural), plants, stones, and other necessary items. maintaining quality control of materials like bricks, mortar, blocks, and other related supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing and Procurement:

Identifying and selecting reliable suppliers of masonry and landscape materials, including bricks, pavers, bluestone, blocks, mortar, plants, soil, mulch and other essential components.

Cost Control and Negotiation:

Negotiating favorable pricing and delivery terms with suppliers, ensuring the best value for the project.

Inventory Management:

Maintaining adequate stock levels of materials, tracking inventory, and forecasting future needs to avoid delays.

Quality Control:

Ensuring the quality and suitability of materials received, adhering to project specifications and industry standards.

Cost Management:

Analyzing bids, managing procurement budgets, minimizing costs, and optimizing material usage to maximize project efficiency.

Logistics and Delivery:

Coordinating the timely delivery of materials to the construction site, managing transportation and logistics.

Supplier Relationship Management:

Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.

Compliance and Regulations:

Ensuring compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and project specifications.

Communication and Collaboration:

Effectively communicating with vendors, designers, field managers and other stakeholders regarding material availability, specifications, and potential issues.

Analyze project plans and specifications:

Carefully review project designs, blueprints, and client requests to understand the scope of work.

Estimate material and labor costs:

Estimate hardscape, plants and other materials for various scope of work. Estimate time and labor cost for all tasks of scope of work including site preparation, hardscape installation, plant installation and other necessary tasks.

Skills and Qualifications:

Construction and Masonry Knowledge: Understanding of masonry materials, construction processes, and industry standards.

Horticultural knowledge: Understanding of plants, trees, shrubs, and other landscaping materials.

Procurement Expertise: Experience in sourcing, procurement, and contract management.

Negotiation and Communication: Strong negotiation skills, ability to build relationships with suppliers, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Organizational and Planning Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Attention to Detail and Accuracy: Ensuring the accuracy of material orders, specifications, and delivery schedules.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to identify and resolve procurement-related challenges.

Budget Management and Cost Control: Understanding and managing procurement budgets effectively.

Computer skills: Proficiency in Google Drive, LMN software, Dynascape Design, and other relevant software.

Strong math and analytical skills: Ability to accurately analyze and interpret material costs, profit margins, and other necessary information
