Commonwealth Waste Transportation, LLC. is a regional waste transportation company. We operate a fleet of modern, Peterbilt and Western Star power units. In addition to our tractors, we have walking floor trailers and various heavy equipment (excavators, wheel loaders & sweepers).
We have an immediate opening for a full-time diesel mechanic assistant. Ideal candidate should have mechanical experience with auto/truck/heavy equipment. The opening is for a day shift, M-F with optional Sat hours. We offer competitive wage, health & dental insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), paid holidays and matching 401K.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Work independently and willing to take direction from supervisor
Valid Class A License w/current DOT medical card (preferred)
Ability to pass pre-employment DOT drug/alcohol testing (mandatory)
Perform preventive maintenance inspections
Welding/cutting experience (preferred)
Familiar with Cat, Cummins & Detroit engine functions
Knowledge of hydraulic operating systems
Ability to adjust air brake & clutch systems
Perform tire repairs and changes
Proficient with paperwork and documentation of repairs performed
