Job Summary:
The Zinc Die Casting is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring zinc die casting machines to produce parts according to specified tolerances and customer requirements. This role ensures safe operation, machine efficiency, and product quality, while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate zinc die casting machines according to work orders, blueprints, or verbal instructions.
Load zinc ingots and monitor melting and injection processes.
Adjust machine controls to regulate temperature, pressure, and cycle times.
Remove castings from machines and trim excess metal using hand tools or automatic trimming presses.
Inspect finished parts for quality, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish; use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and visual inspection methods.
Report defects, malfunctions, or nonconforming materials to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
Maintain records of production quantities, machine performance, and quality checks.
Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times.
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of machines, including lubrication and changing dies as needed.
Assist in troubleshooting issues with casting quality or machine operation.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality control staff.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Prior experience in die casting or metal manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
Basic mechanical skills and understanding of casting machinery.
Familiarity with quality inspection tools and techniques.
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Willingness to work in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment.
Good attention to detail and manual dexterity.
