Job Title: CNC Machine Operator and Shop Assistant (Part-Time and Full-Time Positions Available)

Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced CNC Operator to provide support and assistance to our Head Machinist and Shop Supervisor. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): set up and operation of our CNC and waterjet machines; conducting all required QC inspections; developing knowledge and implementation of basic CNC programming; shop cleanliness & organization; deburring, sanding, and polishing of parts; packing and delivery of parts and materials. A great CNC operator needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. We are looking for a motivated individual who is interested in developing their shop, machining, and CNC operation skills. Essential Functions/Major Duties & Responsibilities
Operate and maintain waterjet and CNC machines
Perform CNC and waterjet machine setup/operation including loading of raw material and parts for each operation and unloading finished parts
Develop familiarity with basic programing of CNC machines
Inspect machined parts utilizing standard inspection instruments such as; calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges, and pin gauges. Document all inspections.
Deburr, polish, grind, sand, clean, and pack parts
Maintains shop equipment (for example checking coolant and other fluid levels and adding appropriate fluid when necessary).
Clean shop equipment, floors, work areas, and assist with organization of tools and equipment.
Operate various machine shop equipment such as; band saws, CNC mills, lathes, waterjet, drills, deburring tools, etc.
Deliver and pickup parts and raw materials using company vehicles
Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
Skills/Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required which include but are not limited to:
Minimum of 3-5 years prior experience operating CNC machines
High School diploma/ GED preferred;
Basic Familiarity with CAD software and CNC programming is preferred but not required
Completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
Proven experience as a CNC operator or related mechanical experience or equivalent training.
Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders, drills, saws, etc.)
Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
Driver’s License preferred.

Ability to read blue prints, schematics and manuals
Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
Eye for detail
Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend some English is preferred, but not required

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, above average temperatures, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Safety
Trained in all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hand to handle tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk, hear or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
We have a full-time and a part-time position available. 3-5 days per week.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day.
