W Food Group seeks a garden and/or maintenance team member for the busy summer season on Block Island. Operating as Dead Eye Dick's, the restaurant is an upscale coastal dining destination focused on creative takes on classic New England dishes. Our seafood comes straight from our on-site fish market, Dick’s Fish and Provisions, and much of our produce comes from our own gardens. We are an independent restaurant and market with a hardworking, positive team that takes pride in what we do. Ideal availability May-September with some flexibility. Relocating to Block Island is required, basic accommodations are provided. Competitive pay based on experience with overtime available. Please respond with resume, dates of availability and working phone number.
Garden position: planting, weeding, mulching, handling the drip irrigation system, tying & training young plants, pest monitoring, harvesting and bringing produce from gardens to market & restaurant. Communicate with chefs about what is ready to harvest. Monitor, water & weed additional flower and herb beds at restaurant.
The garden position can exist on it's own, or can be combined for additional hours with more maintenance responsibilities including: power-washing kitchen mats and trash cans each morning, doing perimeter checks for trash, helping to keep properties clean, presentable and organized.
Garden position requires some prior experience with agriculture. Maintenance responsibilities do not require experience.
