Job Description:Job Description:The research assistant (RA) will work on a longitudinal mixed-methods (quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews) study of cannabis use among young adults. The study involves work with individuals participating in cannabis-related research to be assessed during in-person and virtual research protocols. Work activities involve managing recruitment, conducting in-person and Zoom-based research sessions, conducting qualitative interviews with study participants, participant tracking and retention, programming remote data collection measures, managing online surveys and datafiles, and managing participant payments. The RA is expected to collaborate with project staff to maintain variable directories and other project documentation, conduct library research as needed, and assemble materials for IRB modifications and progress reports.Major responsibilities include:
Participant recruitment and retention 25 %
Conduct baseline sessions and train participants in monthly data completion 25 %
Monitor monthly survey data collection and survey programming/maintenance 25 %
Serve as a fund custodian and assist in other aspects of research including assembling information for IRB oversight and relevant amendments 25 %
Job Qualifications and Competencies
Education and Experience
Required: BA or BS in psychology, public health or related field with 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Coursework in research design and experience with research is preferred
Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics software) is preferred
Experience managing databases is preferred
Coursework in addiction, substance use and/or psychopharmacology is preferred
Job Competencies

Ability to function as a research team member
Must be available to work onsite at Brown University
Must be available to work some weekends depending on participant availability

One-year commitment is required, and long-term commitment preferred
