To do so, we rely on a dynamic, culturally diverse group of employees, working in more than 100 countries, in a variety of challenging roles.Summary:The primary purpose of this position is to drive programs and initiatives that support the organization in effectively managing the risks of occupational incidents, environmental impacts and non-compliance (including regulatory) for the Research and FM Approvals Divisions located in West Glocester, RI (Research Campus) and Norwood, MA.The position is responsible for the implementation of corporate EHS programs and the development and implementation of local EHS department strategies, policies, programs, procedures, education, and training. Program areas include, but are not limited to air, land, water, waste, occupational health, and safety.The role involves collaborating with local laboratory owners/managers and functional departments, such as human resources, risk management, legal, and enterprise learning to maximize internal resources and develop resilient internal programs.The EHS Manager provides strategic leadership and EHS subject matter expertise. This position requires technical and functional professional leadership at all levels within and outside the company. The EHS Manager oversees local EHS staff members to achieve departmental goals and provides mentorship to promote individual development. This position provides coaching to Research & Approvals leadership on proper EHS culture, strategic planning, annual EHS related budgets for multiple departments, and resource recommendations.The position has the responsibility to identify and recommend action to R&A management to reduce the risk of EHS exposures. The position also has the responsibility to support the local management in the implementation of policies and programs to mitigate such exposure in accordance with local laws and corporate strategy.The EHS Manager will serve as technical leader as chemical hygiene officer, hazardous material manager, radiation safety officer, laser safety officer and act as safety officer for emergency response teams or ensure there is a qualified designee in these roles.The EHS Manager must be familiar with (and stay current on changes to) EHS regulations applicable to Research & Approvals operations and ensure FM Global EHS programs are compliant with local legal obligations, licenses, and permits. The position is the primary point of contact with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and authorities having jurisdiction.Managing a small team of EHS professionals, the EHS Manager acts as the strategic leader and EHS subject matter expert with responsibility for overall strategy and compliance, cultural support, and setting annual objectives that support local and corporate initiatives.The EHS Manager works closely with Research and Approvals leaders and local technical team leaders to develop effective and sustainable EHS programs to support site specific activities.Schedule and Location:This position is office-based in West Glocester, RI.Strategy and planning:

Provide strategies for site managers to integrate core EHS functions into process and practices across the business.

Establish, maintain and communicate all EHS Policies and Procedures.

Develop annual objectives and set budget to accomplish.

Develop action plans and set priorities for implementation.

Design and implement a hazard evaluation process for all laboratory designs and test programs by working closely with local managers/directors, research scientist and test program managers.

Ensure that hazard assessment teams evaluate new processes, equipment, and labs. Identify potential hazards and provide input on how to eliminate or minimize the hazards.

Identify applicable regulatory programs & training programs needed and ensure they are implemented.

Stays current on safety and environmental technical and regulatory issue

Performance Monitoring

Establish and maintain safety performance metrics and reporting to management.

Establish and maintain processes for all environmental and material monitoring and reporting programs including air emissions, drinking water quality, process water, hazardous material/waste management, radiation safety, laser safety, wetlands, and stormwater.

Compliance Assurance

Ensure all EHS licenses and permit requirements are met including, drinking water license requirements, air permits, wetland permits, hazardous waste management, NPDES and storm water permits.

Ensure EHS training programs are developed, appropriate staff are trained, and training is documented.

Develop EHS management systems to ensure programs are complied with and assessed for quality and improvement on a continuing basis.

Ensure EHS audits and inspections are conducted to assure that management systems are in place and the Research and Approvals Divisions comply with all laws, regulations, and company policies.

EHS Committees & Teams

Participate in EHS subcommittees, team audits, and incident investigations.

Serve as an advisor and ad-hoc member of facility emergency response teams, hazardous material response teams and confined space rescue team (West Glocester only).

Crisis Management and Physical Security: Provide support for physical security, business continuity, crisis management and other risk related initiatives as needed.Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.Required:Bachelor's Degree10+ years of related work experience3+ years of people management experience industrial, manufacturing, and/or research/laboratory settingHighly Preferred:Environmental sciences, occupational health science, chemical engineering or engineering curriculum with equivalent trainingCertified Safety Professional (CSP)Certification Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)Required Skills:

Extensive technical knowledge of EHS regulations and program development and implementation.

Excellent written and oral communications, including the ability to explain technical health and safety concepts in a way that is organized and easy-to-consume.

Experience designing and delivering EHS training programs.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with and influence others, with or without direct authority, to achieve results.

Adept at balancing strategic leadership and tactical/operational execution.

Embraces a "hands-on" approach to regulatory compliance.

Ability to research, investigate and analyze information and exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate advisories and actions.

Proficient computer skills, including MS Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint or other presentation software.

The hiring range for this position is $130,700-$187,800 annually. The final salary offer will vary based on individual education, skills, and experience.
