THE POSITION

In this position, you will help maintain Gallitzin Forest District grounds and facilities, as well as provide wildfire prevention and protection to the public. This will include various tasks like cleaning road culverts, repairing headwalls, mowing grass, applying pesticides, painting, tree planting, and trail maintenance. Additionally, you will conduct minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on vehicles. Operating and maintaining various power equipment, such as chainsaws and weed eaters, will be among your assigned tasks. Lastly, you will assist foresters with marking timber sales and collecting field data when needed.Interested in learning more? The season runs from approximately March through November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.Other Requirements:
