Summary / Main Purpose of Job:Support the Mission of the Department of Emergency Services; to promote and assist in providing safety and security to Chester County citizens so they can work, live, and grow in a healthy and safe community. The Assistant Fire Marshal supports Chester County municipalities and first responder organizations with fire marshal services.Essential Duties, Tasks and Accountabilities:
Conduct timely, thorough, and accurate fire investigations, as necessary and requested.
Investigate cases with law enforcement agencies when arson or criminal negligence is suspected, or a fire results in serious injury or death as assigned.
Investigate all fires that occur within the County of Chester as requested by the authority having jurisdiction as assigned.

- Conduct fire and life safety inspections of county-owned and/or leased facilities as assigned.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the investigation of fires.

Associate's degree in fire science or a related field from an accredited college or university, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

- National Fire Protection Association 1033 Certified Fire Investigator or equivalent.
- National Fire Protection Association 1031 Certified Fire Inspector I or equivalent.```{=html}```
- One or more years of fire investigation experience.
- One or more years of training experience.

International Code Council Certified Building Official or equivalent.
International Code Council Certified Plans Examiner or equivalent.
Three or more years of fire investigation experience.
Three or more years of training experience.
Three or more years of experience in a public safety field.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Computer skills).
Intermediate to advanced cyber navigation skills for research purposes.

Ability to quickly learn internal proprietary software used by the fire services division, and the department of emergency services. (Inova, Everbridge, PeopleSoft).
