DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Parole Agent 1 in a state correctional institution (SCI), you will learn how to counsel inmates in correctional institutions to prepare them for parole hearings that will lead to their release and re-entry into the community. You can expect to prepare and initiate pre-parole investigations, review inmate cases for domestic violence history, complete sex offender registration when necessary, and aid in other parole-related processes. In this position, you conduct orientation for newly committed offenders to inform them of pre-parole services. You also conduct parole education classes to educate inmates about the parole process. Additionally, you will act as a point of contact for inmates, their families, government agencies, and the public. Successful completion of the 12-month training and probationary period will result in a promotion to Parole Agent 2 with an increase in salary! REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of paraprofessional experience which includes two years of paraprofessional social services, human services, corrections, or law enforcement experience; or
Two years of paraprofessional social services, human services, corrections, or law enforcement experience, and an associate’s degree; or
A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, legal studies, political science, behavioral science, or a related field; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are with 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
You must obtain CLEAN certification within two months of employment and maintain this certification for the duration of employment in this job.

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
