The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Somerset is seeking a Medical Records Director. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Medical Records Director, you will direct a department responsible for establishing, classifying, and maintaining medical records and documents. You will develop and implement policies and procedures, ensure medical record completion and maintenance, and comply with accrediting and certifying requirements. This work requires a high degree of accuracy due to the frequency of multiple classifications and cross-references in a single case. In addition, you will supervise clerical staff maintaining complex case histories, complete reports and inspections, and attend conferences. Interested in learning more? Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $58,035.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association; or

Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association; or

Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currentlywaivedfor this title.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
