THE POSITIONAre you an effective communicator with a strong sense of justice and great organization skills? Take your talents to Bureau of Labor Law Compliance, at the PA Department of Labor & Industry! Our team monitors and enforces Pennsylvania's laws that protect workers' rights. As a Labor Law Investigator, you will conduct specialized investigative work to support this purpose. Advance your career and protect the rights of all workers in Pennsylvania! DESCRIPTION OF WORKIn this position, you will provide employees and employers with information about the state laws through public education programs; conduct inspections, interviews, and investigations; resolve disputes; and initiate prosecution against employers for violations which cannot be corrected through the administrative process. This involves making decisions, in collaboration with a supervisor, as to the course of the investigation and when it is appropriate to write letters, have administrative conferences, or visit an establishment. With our team, you will maintain case records and summaries, collect evidence for prosecution, and attend and participate in administrative and court hearings. Work also includes maintaining expense records for travel and building strong working relationships with interested parties. Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

This position is home headquartered.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of technical investigative or construction and trades experience and a bachelor’s degree;or

Two years of technical investigative or construction and trades experience and an associate's degree in a field related to investigative or construction and trades work;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

You must live or be willing to move to and must travel within the geographic area of the Altoona District Office. The following counties are served by the Altoona District Office: Warren, McKean, Potter, Tioga, Lycoming, Forest, Elk, Cameron, Clinton, Butler, Armstrong, Jefferson, Clarion, Clearfield, Centre, Indiana, Cambria, Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin, Fayette, Somerset, Bedford, Fulton, Franklin, Adams.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

Experience in conducting investigations or working in construction and trades, business management, financial services, accounting, or conflict resolution

An associate's degree or greater, in a field related to investigative work construction and trades, business management, financial services, accounting, or conflict resolution

Experience enforcing labor standards or labor and employment laws

Experience testifying at administrative or court hearings
