The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is actively seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Corrections Library Assistant. The purpose of this position is the responsibility of monitoring and supporting the daily operations of the Library at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe Corrections Library Assistant supervises all operations of the institutional library in the absence of the Librarian by creating and maintaining a clean and safe environment that promotes reading and learning for inmates. In addition, this employee assists the Librarian in training, scheduling, hiring, and terminating inmate library personnel. Job duties entail overseeing inmate work crews and completing inmate attendance and progress reports, answering questions from the inmate population and institutional staff pertaining to library resources and programs, completing daily callouts for inmates, and maintaining accountability for inmates by ensuring appropriate discipline and security guidelines are met. Additional duties include replying to inmate correspondence and processing the library mail, keeping all library equipment in proper functioning order, verifying, and maintaining the denied publication list, and visiting the restricted housing unit so that inmates have access to a circulation and inventory of books. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Saturday to Wednesday, with 30-minute lunch (Thursday and Friday off).

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of clerical experience ;or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.
