This could be the perfect career opportunity for you! The Department of Human Services is searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 for the Washington County Assistance Office. This position is key in breaking a communication barrier to those who need the services the DHS provides. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Clerical Assistant 2 in this position, you utilize your bilingual ability to communicate orally and in writing in both Haitian Creole and English to customers, staff, and the public. You perform a range of clerical duties to enhance staff members’ ability to provide quality services to the citizens of Pennsylvania.Clerical Assistant 2s provide customer service in a courteous and professional manner both in person and via telephone. In addition, you utilize basic computer skills to perform various office functions including data entry, scanning, imaging, filing, answering phones, and processing mail and voice mail. Job duties are carried out under the general supervision of a Clerical Supervisor.Interested in learning more? Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

DHS provides excellent benefits, contractual pay increases, paid holidays and leave entitlements, opportunity for advancement and shift selection in addition to a great work environment.

Travel and overtime as needed.

WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or

Graduation from high school; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

This position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Haitian/Creole . You may be contacted for a Haitian/Creole speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Haitian/Creole must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status in the position.
