THE POSITIONThe Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a skilled Civil Engineer specializing in Bridges to join their team. This role involves a wide range of engineering tasks related to designing, analyzing, and constructing various structures within the District. The main goal is to guarantee that these structures meet the Department's standards for structural capacity, safety, and technical accuracy, while also ensuring that projects are finished within the specified timeframe. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe primary responsibility of this role involves the preparation or assistance in the preparation of various reports related to bridge repair and replacement projects. This includes reports such as TS&L (Type, Size, and Location), hydrology and hydraulics reports, as well as foundation reports and recommendations. Additionally, the position involves conducting design computations for structures, estimating design man-hours, providing cost estimates, and developing contract special provisions and plans for in-house projects. Full-time employment.
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;or
Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (commonwealth title);or
One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline;or
Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline.
Conditions of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
