We are searching for an Engineering Support Specialist, Advanced Professional to join our Facilities and Instrumentation Department of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. This position will assist with various activities throughout the department and to provide technical support to R&D engineer.ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You Will:Perform assembly operations and fabrication of facility and test equipmentProvide input to and perform design and layout of standard facility and test equipment as directedInspect, test, and calibrate parts and equipment as directedEvaluate the selection of materials, and components based on operational and performance specificationsAssess and identify system faults, and adjust and repair as directedAssist senior technical/engineering staff in gathering, compiling, and archiving test data in the laboratory or in the fieldMay work as part of a test project support team, including selected task leadership roles, in the laboratory, or in the fieldMay develop and provide documentation for task procedures and process evaluationWork cooperatively in a small research groupMay work as part of a test project support team, in the laboratory, or in the fieldMinimal requirements include an Associate's Degree and four plus years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required skills and experience include:Ability to interpret engineering drawingsAbility and knowledge to repair various filters, pumps, and valve assembliesKnowledge of air compressors and systemsAbility to us basic hand and power tools safelyMicrosoft Office, basic computer tasks, general office computer knowledgeYour working location will be fully on-site, located in State College, PA.
