Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a NCAA Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and management of Penn State's championship Blue Course and historic White Course located in State College, PA.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work closely with the golf course superintendent and contribute to the overall success of the grounds operations.
Assist in creating work schedules for daily operations.
Ensure daily setup is accomplished correctly and correct any deficiencies.
Supervise and direct department greenskeepers, spray and irrigation technicians.
Record daily records that pertain to weather, chemical & fertilizer applications, purchase invoices, tasks completed during the day, etc.
Supervise the chemical and fertilizer applications.
Oversee the crew for assigned projects.
Train employees on tasks and equipment.
Assume responsibility of the golf course in the absence of the golf course superintendent.Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience in golf course maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass species, agronomic practices, and golf course construction principles. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail. Familiarity with irrigation systems, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance requirements. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.
