THE POSITION
The Department of Human Services, Torrance State Hospital is seeking responsible and detail-oriented individuals to join its Environmental Department team. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will clean and sanitize examination rooms, offices, patients' rooms, laboratories, and public areas. You will perform housekeeping duties, including mopping, vacuuming, and sweeping floors; cleaning windows; and dusting furniture. You will also empty trash cans, restock the supplies in bathrooms, and move items around as needed. In addition, you will deep clean, refinish floors, stock and distribute clean linens, and properly dispose of waste. You will maintain a safe work environment using the proper personal protective equipment (PPE), follow equipment operation and chemical handling policies, and complete daily documentation of duties.Interested in learning more? Temporary full-time employment. You will work 37.5 hours per week for 6 to 11 months.
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. The work schedule includes rotating weekends. You will work approximately every fourth weekend with days off during the week. Work hours and schedule may change based on operational needs.
