THE POSITION

Would you like physical work in the outdoors for a state agency that provides fishing and boating opportunities for individuals and families in Pennsylvania's many lakes, river, and streams? Then this may be the job for you!DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this Fish Culturist 1 position, you will spend the season learning how to collect and select brood stock while handling the fish in a manner that minimizes stress, injury, and mortality. This includes learning to operate a fish stocking vehicle in a safe and timely manner, load and transport fish, monitor fish, and take appropriate action to deliver the fish in excellent condition, as well as perform repairs and maintenance to buildings, equipment, and grounds. Seasonal, full-time employment. The season runs from September through May.

This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year.

Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

This position may require some weekend, evening, and holiday work as well as standby time.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training.Special Requirements:

You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.

You must obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) that permits the operation of vehicles of 26,000 lbs. or more prior to completing the probationary period.Additional Requirements:You must meet the PA residency requirement. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
