DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Product Development Chemist will be part of the Architectural Coatings Research and Development team. They will be responsible for formulating, preparing, and testing new and existing products, evaluating new raw materials, maintaining existing products and working with manufacturing to resolve problems.As a Product Development Chemist, you will work hands-on in the development of world class coating technologies. The successful candidate is expected to learn quickly and gain expertise in architectural coatings product lines, including concepts, practices, and procedures. Specifically, the employee's main responsibilities will include formulation of new and existing products within the materials group.Key Responsibilities

Ensure adherence to all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations, standards, and policies to help eliminate health hazards to prevent work stoppage and time loss due to accidents.

Drive projects against set milestones and deliver results. Coordinate related activities including formulation, processing, testing and application.

Perform and document generally standardized, routine chemical and physical test of finished goods and compare the results with established standards and customer requirements.

Work closely with product management, manufacturing, and procurement organizations, to develop new products and maintain existing product lines through formulation and product optimization.

Support manufacturing to ensure quality products are delivered to customers.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Engineering, Polymer Science, or a relevant technical field with a minimum of 0-2 years of experience working in a lab setting.

Previous experience in architectural, waterborne coatings, or other coatings technology and/or coatings manufacturing is preferred.
