The Accounting intern will work with the Plant Controller and Plant Accounting Manager to support the Saegertown, PA manufacturing facility. Interns gain a valuable understanding of real-world projects, tasks, challenges, and opportunities that exist within the industry. This paid internship can be used as a springboard into the Accounting Leadership Development Program, by which practical experience gained during a summer internship creates an exceptionally prepared candidate.Responsibilities:The intern will gain experience in the following areas:
Participate in the month end close process, preparing journal entries related to inventory, sales, cost of sales and operating adjustments, reconciliations and month end financial statements
Provide inventory and transactional analysis, including scrap, production variance and inventory valuation variance
Partner with Supply Chain team to analyze purchase price variance and identify cost saving opportunities
Provide support to Finance leadership for reports and analysis in support of Division, Group and Corporate reviews, audits, and ad hoc requirements
Identify cost saving and lean opportunities with Business Units to improve operations
Active participant in the development, implementation and support of Lean in Manufacturing and Finance
Partner with functions through analysis and reporting of their operational and financial performance
Gain understanding of SOX and internal controls and adhere to those processes
Along with other job duties, as required
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in related field, such as: Accounting or Finance.
Candidate shall have completed sophomore year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Beginner to Intermediate financial modeling and analysis skills required
Ability to work effectively in a variety of environments and assignments
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Must be a US Citizen or have US Permanent Resident Status
