THE POSITIONIf you have a desire to make a difference in the life of a child, this career opportunity is for you. This position works with children and families within Potter County. Multiple positions are available.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Duties include investigating general protective services and child protective services referrals, maintaining a caseload, providing support to children and their families, and working closely with other agencies within the community and around the state to provide necessary services. The employee will maintain accurate record keeping in the statewide informational system.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

On-call required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or

Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or

A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or

A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Potter County. If no eligible candidates who live within Potter County apply for this position, candidates who reside in Cameron, Clinton, Elk, Lycoming, McKean, or Tioga counties may be considered.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
