The TIG Welder is responsible for precisely welding metal components using TIG welding techniques, adhering to strict quality standards and blueprints, often working on custom fabricated parts and assemblies, requiring a high level of skill in manipulating the welding torch to achieve clean, consistent welds on various metals like steel and aluminum, while also performing quality checks to ensure each weld meets specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Precise TIG Welding:
Perform TIG welding operations on a variety of metal components, including tubes, sheets, and structural shapes, maintaining consistent weld quality and bead appearance.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine welding parameters, joint types, and required tolerances.
Quality Control:
Conduct thorough inspections of welds using visual and non-destructive testing methods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Material Handling:
Properly handle and position metal components for welding, including clamping, fixturing, and tacking.
Set-up and Operation:
Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, adjusting parameters like voltage, amperage, and gas flow based on material and welding requirements.
Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve welding issues like inconsistent heat distribution, porosity, or improper penetration.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols related to welding operations, including proper PPE usage and work area cleanliness.
Requirements
Must be able to pass math test (conversion of decimals to fractions and vice versa) and Welding test before offer
