Job Title: Batch Maker
Summary:
The Batch Maker is responsible for manufacturing coatings products by weighing, measuring, and blending raw materials according to specified formulations and operating procedures. This role ensures that all work is carried out safely and efficiently and that products meet quality and quantity requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Accurately weigh, measure, and add raw materials (liquids, solids, powders) to blenders or mixers as per batch ticket or written instructions.
Operate and monitor mixers, blenders, and other production equipment to ensure proper mixing and blending.
Observe batches during processing to maintain adherence to specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
Physically handle the transfer of materials via pails, bags, or drums.
Clean and rinse mixers, tanks, and equipment between batches.
Prepare, fill, and label packaging (pails, drums) for finished goods as required.
Maintain accurate records of batch production, including times, weights, color, temperatures, and other variables.
Transfer samples to the quality lab for testing and make necessary adjustments based on feedback.
Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Contribute to housekeeping and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Comply with all company policies and standard operating procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience in a chemical manufacturing or coatings environment preferred, but not necessary.
Ability to read and comprehend batch cards, instructions, and safety procedures.
Basic math and measurement skills required.
Physical ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 60lbs.
Good communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Forklift certification is an asset.
Attention to detail and strong commitment to safety and quality.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to chemicals, vapors, and dust (all PPE supplied).
Repetitive manual tasks; frequent lifting and use of handling equipment (dollies, forklifts).
Mostly daytime shift work, with possible overtime
