Senior Coordinator for Academic InterventionThe University of Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced, positive, conscientious, student-centered advising professional as a Senior Coordinator for Academic Intervention, a member of the Student Success Team in the Office of the Provost. This position reports to the Associate Director of Academic Intervention and Outreach. Student Success in the Office of the Provost positively impacts the student experience by providing holistic academic resources and collaborative professional development to ensure that every student has the chance to succeed and feel they belong at Pitt, regardless of their background or situation.The Senior Coordinator for Academic Intervention will lead efforts for the Pitt PRSSIM Project in providing holistic academic coaching and interventions to rural and other at-promise students and monitor their progress.The Senior Coordinator for Academic Intervention must be a committed advocate for a diverse student body. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience serving at-promise student populations, including rural, first-generation and lower-income college students.This position utilizes advanced advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects.Master's degree in education, counseling, or related area. Three (3) years' experience in advising, student success, retention, and/or support programs or related work required. Experience in working with diverse undergraduate student populations a must. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, participating in a team environment, giving presentations, and knowledge of MS tools is a plus. Previous experience with student success technology (e.g., EAB) a plus.Job SummaryUtilizes expert-level advising knowledge, theory, and experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Leads the facilitation and implementation of University-sponsored activities. Manages large, complex projects.Essential FunctionsCoaches diverse students regarding academic and supplemental requirements, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources. Assists students with identification of long-term goals and career plans. Works to position students to meet requirements for graduation while preparing them to achieve future career goals. Interprets University policies, procedures, and curriculum to students, faculty, and staff. Maintains student and advising records in accordance with state/federal law and university regulations. Monitors student performance and resolves student issues with the implementation of academic resources, interventions, and/or programs. Serves on appropriate department, college, and or campus advisor committees. Collaborates across departments on campus referrals when appropriate. Provides information and statistical analysis to college and university units, such as enrollment statistics and student achievement. Analyzes data and prepares reports as appropriate. Develops and oversees advising and coaching functions, applies specialized knowledge, and may assist in the training of new academic advisors and support staff. Models the core values of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Academic Advisor and the Association for the Coaching and Tutoring Profession (ACTP). Reports incidents of sexual harassment/misconduct to the University Title IX Coordinator. Supports unit operations.
