Carnegie Mellon University's Police Department (UPD) is searching for Security Officers who are highly motivated and eager to serve the CMU community! Core responsibilities will include:

Conducting watchperson rounds of university buildings and areas to ensure the safety and security of the campus, the assigned sector, and its occupants/users

Reporting suspicious activity, persons, and conditions immediately

Providing escorts to students, staff, and faculty members

Providing general assistance to campus police officers

Providing general information to university personnel and visitors

Performing foot patrol on campus grounds in all weather conditions and temperaturesFlexibility, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University. You Must Demonstrate:

Excellent interpersonal skills

Verbal and written communication skills

Ability to interact with a varied population

Ability to remain calm in difficult, dangerous, and high-stress emergency situations, and respond to all campus constituents in a professional and polite manner

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required

Prior work experience in a security-related role preferred

Requirements:

Successful Background Check

PA Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)

Fitness for duty assessment and pre-employment medical exam, including drug and alcohol screeningAdditional information:

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position based in Pittsburgh, PA.
