Post Doctoral Associate Health and Human Development - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (24002983)The Physical Activity Epidemiology lab in the Department of Health and Human Development at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoc position, starting as early as July 1, 2024.The postdoc will work closely with Dr. Duck-chul Lee (DC Lee, PI) and his research team including Dr. I-Min Lee (MPI) at Harvard Medical School for a newly funded NIH R01 project (R01HL171098), Dose-Response to Resistance Exercise on Cardiovascular Health (DoReps) to test the effects of different doses of resistance exercise on CVD risk factors by conducting a 1-year exercise trial in 240 adults with overweight/obesity. This clinical exercise trial will help fill important gaps in knowledge on effective minimum dose, beneficial optimal dose, and safe maximum dose of resistance exercise for CVD prevention.Job ResponsibilitiesSupervising and training graduate-level research assistants and research associatesOverseeing exercise intervention and outcomes assessmentsContributing to data analysis, reporting, and scientific writingRequirementsPh.D. degree in kinesiology, exercise science, epidemiology, or related field (or, expected to graduate in summer/fall 2024)Excellent teamwork and communication skillsExperience in exercise intervention/training (preferred, but not necessary)Experience in large epidemiological data analysis (preferred, but not necessary)Salary/BenefitsMinimum salary of $56,000 per year for 2-5 years with benefits (e.g., insurance)At least 1-2 supported (free) research conference attendance per year (e.g., ACSM)Will learn how to design and conduct a large exercise clinical trial, successful manuscript and grant writing, and large epidemiological cohort data analysis for publicationsWe are specifically looking for a person with a big warm heart and good people skills.If you have questions, please email Dr. Lee at [email protected] (Dr. Lee is currently a professor at Iowa State University, but will relocate to the University of Pittsburgh as a professor and new Director of Physical Activity and Weight Management Research Center from June 1, 2024).The University of Pittsburgh is committed to championing all aspects of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within our community.
