This position is 3pm-11pm, Monday - Friday at the Senior School campus (423 Fox Chapel Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15238).
Conduct patrols on Shady Side Academy campus to ensure security of buildings, students and staff. Responds to requests for assistance and emergencies.Provides for the general security of Shady Side Academy campuses and respond to calls for service.
Direct traffic at the beginning and end of the school day, as well as for special events.
Patrol the interior of buildings and outer perimeter of campus.
Assists with school safetydrills (fire, evacuation, lockdown, etc.).
Must possess good interpersonal relationship skills using tact, patience and courtesy, particularly with respect to children.
Must have the ability to deal with dissatisfied individuals.
Check on the safety and welfare of the custodial staff especially those working afternoon and midnight shifts.
During prolong periods of non-use, security will make sure that essential lighting is turned on and non-essential lighting is extinguished.
Check all mechanical rooms and make sure the boilers and other essential equipment are operating and record those boiler readings on the security report as well as refrigeration readings where it might apply.
Pay close attention to the road conditions especially during severe weather and notify the Director of Facilities of any icy/slippery conditions, power outages or other hazardous conditions that may need immediate attention.
In Emergency situations, contact Police or Fire or EMS as necessary.
Complete a written log indicating the times when buildings were checked /and secured, noting any essential mechanical reading and document any incidents that occur on campus.
All other duties may be assigned.
