Company :Allegheny Health NetworkJob Description :GENERAL OVERVIEW:Mentor staff and supervise work performed by staff. Contribute to management of daily operations of the department. Recognizes, manages and rehabilitates injuries to professional, amateur and recreational athletes. Provides techniques for prevention of injuries. Works independently, but under the direction of Sports Medicine Supervisor and Team physicians to manage the daily operations within a school district, college, or professional athletic medicine program. Acts as a point of contact for AHN to the district or athletic department for communication of the management of injuries within the athletic program by communicating with athletic directors, general managers, coaches, school nurses, physicians, parents, athletes and sports medicine staff as needed. Also develops exercise programs, performs data entry/recordkeeping, assists with cleaning the facility, and monitoring supplies for the athletic program. Serves as peer mentor. Responsibly orients new athletic trainers in meaningful use of time with daily activates. Demonstrates proficiency in correct workflow based upon standard operating procedures of the program, appropriate documentation communication and customer service standards. Provides meaningful feedback and performance evaluation input for ATI and II positions. Mentors students and interns as assigned. Assists employees with setting up and working with concussion base line software and educating on mass testing exams with patients at different work venues. Provides clinical leadership oversight serving as a department resource for clinical questions for athletic trainer I and II.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Evaluates and manages injuries and determines whether a referral is necessary. Maintains a medical file on each athlete and acts as a liaison between the physician and the athlete or athlete's parent. Prepares athletes for practice or competition. (40%)

Acts as a liaison between school administrators, school nurses, guidance counselors, coaches, athletes, and parents to appropriately manage, educate and return athletes back to play/activity. Additionally, coordinates all communication to return athletes with concussions back to play in coordination with the Pennsylvania State Law. (20%)

Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a physician. Develops functional training programs and conditioning programs for injured and non-injured athletes. Supervises student athletic trainers from area colleges when requested. Meets with University professors regarding intern performance. (15%)

Assists Senior staff for ongoing special projects not limited to but including; CPR Certification, Community Events, Concussion Education, Injury referral tracking, Special Events and Pre Participation physicals. Additionally Coverage of these events will be required and will travel to various satellite locations to support assignments. (15%)

Completes one educational program per year by means of organizing a speaker/event or speaking to support the continuing education program for the department un the guidelines of NATA/BOC. This event/events must be equal to or greater than 2 continuing educational hours with the NATA/BOC criteria. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

3-5 years’ experience

Current state licensure as a certified Athletic Trainer or eligible

National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) certification

Travel between various satellite locations

CPR – American Heart Association

Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

Master’s Degree

7-10 years’ experience

Experience with concussion base line testing software

Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Current state driver's license
